We sure did.

So, I wanted to try something new that I have been seeing all over blogland. I have never done a tutorial before...partly because I just have really never thought of it and partly because I assume that alot of folks already know how to do this stuff.

I am always surprised when someone comes into the store and asks me how to do something that is all over blogland. So at the risk of being repetitive...here goes.

So I wanted to do a cute little table with some sweet French Typography.

I read somewhere that you can use newspaper to transfer images...so being cheap and inpatient...too inpatient to go to the craft store to get something else...I decided to try it.

First I did a coat of white on this sweet table.

I did just one coat because I am going to heavily distress this piece. No reason to put it on just to take it off.

Then I printed off a great graphic from The Graphics Fairy. If you have not seen her blog, you really must do yourself the favor and check her out. 1000's of vintage graphics for your crafting pleasure.

So all you do is put the newspaper down, put your graphic over it and trace the graphic with a pen...yup... that is it.

Now, let me give you a little advice. Try to use a piece that does not have alot of the colored ads or alot of blank space. The newsprint acts as a carbon. Also, make sure your paint is completely dry before trying this...I know, this is a given...just saying.

The newsprint did not come off on the table at all except where I traced. I have tried the pencil on the back of the paper and ended up with a ton of lead - which does not come off of the paint.

This is what you are left with.

Now, all you have to do is take a Sharpie...yup a sharpie...and fill in and trace the pencil lines.

My Sharpie kind of dried out a bit so I had to wait for a few minutes for it to rehydrate...or whatever you would call it. I think that the chalk paint sucks the moisure out of the felt tip.

After you are all done with the tracing...apply a soft wax. I usually distress then wax but in this case I waxed first to seal the Sharpie so the it won't smear when I distress this piece.

So here it is finished and waxed. I have not distressed it yet because I have to wait a bit for the wax to cure. Don't worry if the lettering is not perfectly, perfect. Once you do some distressing it kind of all evens out.

So, that is it. Super, duper easy and cute.

Now go and give this a try... I will show the finished piece tomorrow.

An Exciting Announcment!!! It happens to me alot in the business that I am in. I hear my customers talk about it as well. I remember that grandma had one just like this and she used it every day.

Yesterday, I got something that brought back a flood of wonderful memories.

You see, we have a big family, with lots of cousins. The close cousins, the ones that we saw all of the time because they lived in town. We saw them almost every weekend when our parents would play "Ping", a card game into the wee hours of the night.

I love my close cousins. But, they are all boys. My boy cousins, equipped with all of the boy toys that you can imagine. It was fun to visit but let's face it....four boy cousins plus my brother and all of the obligitory toys was not as exciting as you might imagine.

Then there was my far away cousins, my GIRL cousins. My girl cousins lived in St. John. Really not a long trip but at the age of 8 or so, it was an adventure. I loved going to my girl cousins house.

There was the long car ride which included sweet treats provided by my mom. We would play I spy or car plate bingo or color. Sometimes we would sing to pass the time. It was great to spend time with my family. We were all excited to get to the girl cousins house.

My girl cousins lived in a big farm house, while our house was smaller. They had horses, a piano, a big basement made into a play room and every single, solitary girl toy that you could imagine. My girl cousins were the type that had both of Barbies shoes in the Barbie wardrobe. They had every single game piece to Monopoly, all of their toys still looked new....they were THOSE kind of girls. We were not THOSE kind of girls.

In our defense, they had the entire basement ...with an ENTIRE PLAY KITCHEN....we had a bedroom that we all shared...my two sisters, myself and my grandma. We just didn't have the room.

Playing in their playroom was heaven. In their kitchen they had play groceries in the cupboards and entire sets of dishes that you could wash because their play sink had real running water. Who has that?

We would bake with their tiny pans and sweep with their tiny brooms. Then we would serve everything up on the tiny table and chairs. It was nirvana.

Today, I got the sweetest piece that brought all of those memories flooding back. It is amazing.

It was obviously handmade. It is painted the sweetest red and yellow. All of the drawers open and close perfectly, ready to store those tiny cookie cutters and rolling pins. The cupboard doors are worn from years of love and play.

It even has tiny hooks for tiny cups. You should have seen me running around the store trying to find tiny utensils to play with....um to stage this piece with. I was only able to find some tiny cups and a tiny colander that is actually a votive holder. I love this piece. It sparked wonderful memories for me. It also made me dream about the tea parties that it has seen.

I wish I had a little lady in my life that I could give this too. I just don't think that my 11 year granddaughter or my 6 greandsons would be that interested.

This is certainly a piece that would make some wonderful memories. Maybe not about girl cousins but certainly about fun.

This piece is available at the moment in store but I don't think it will last long....certainly not as long as the wonderful memories it can help to create.

Do you need some gift Ideas?

I happen to think that the best gifts are handmade. Sometimes I know that you don't have time to make something yourself...so the next best thing is buying something handmade from a local crafter. This also adds to your local economy and helps your favorite crafter to keep on crafting.

It is always amazing to me when someone buys something that I have redone or put together....it's not that I don't believe in myself...I do...but it is an amazing feeling to know that something that I poured myself into is now being held as a treasured belonging in someones home. It is even a better feeling to know that someone thinks enough of something that I have created to give it as a gift.

I know it sounds corny....those of you who know me know that I am corny...but it a gift to me when someone takes something that I have created home. So, thank you.

That being said....I worked on some pieces this weekend that I think are so cute. I think they would make great gifts, for yourself or someone you love. I hope you feel the same way.

These first two goodies were those kinda ugly but readily available and inexpensive mantel clocks.

I gave them a coat of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Pure White and then added some vintage buttons and bling.

I love how they turned out.

We have lots of other great one of a kind ideas for gifts in the store now. I have heard that many, many times. I think for a little shop that is especially true.

My little shop is on a main street in Spokane but is sort of non-discript on the outside. During the summer months when the weather is great, we put lots of pretty items that catch potential shoppers attention - of course, it is also light outside until later.

During these darker winter months we can't put the beautiful pieces outdoors because of the weather and in the later afternoon the darkness. People constantly tell me they just noticed the store or how much nicer and bigger it is inside.

In order, to give everyone a better idea about what we have to offer. I built some elevated platforms in order to better display our goodies.

Today I worked on both of our front windows and thought I would give you a little peek.

During the day light hours. We are getting ready for Girls Day Out here in town and trying to decorate in pink - which is not hard for us to do at all.

I added some light to the windows to grab some attention in the darker hours. I love the pink glow.

This is our other front window. I love the black and french look and have so many great things it is hard to decide what to use. The black chandelir and lamp add some light to this window when it gets a little darker.

We also have been working in the store - adding some Christmas stuff here and there. White Christmas??

Happy Thanksgiving to all. I would love to show you pictures of our wonderful feast and the people that we shared it with but I was not quick enough to capture pictures of our mountain of food....and let's face it, pictures of people sleeping with their pants unbuttoned.... is well, just not appetizing.

It has been snowing here all day. It feels more like Christmas than Thanksgiving.

Unfortunently, you can't see how pretty the snow is in the light - it glitters.

Mother Nature is certainly going to give us a White Christmas here in Spokane.

I decided to do a bit of crafting in this chilly weather - 13 below last night.

I love glitter - not a secret. I found a lovely snowman that needed a little lift, so out came some of goodies and I dressed her and her little gal - yes, I made her into a Snow Lady - She is ready for Black Friday Shopping.

I don't think that it necessarily has to be a white Christmas only - do you?

Stop by the store on Black Friday. I have never actually gotten inside of this little shop but have longingly peered through the windows many times. It did not disappoint. The entire place, although smaller is impeccably decorated with to die for goodies. There are beautiful vignettes and original, handmade treasures everywhere you look. I was amazed at the detail and the, well, glitter. Anyone that knows me knows I love me some glitter. I have almost crashed my car looking at my engagement ring in the sunshine.

That being said, these ladies did not disappoint - even glittering cookies.

There were dreamy Christmas ideas and gifts as well.

I also got to meet Serena from Farm Chicks fame. I came around a display and she smiled her great smile and I acted like I just met the queen. ...well, the queen of junk anyway. We go pickin'!!

.People ask us all the time, "Where do you find all of this great stuff?" I usually tell them that I shop all of the time and that I am lucky to have a husband that does demolition and we find great stuff left behind. What I usually don't tell them is exactly where or in what condition we find things in.
It is hard for me to leave anything with any potential at all behind.....which means, I drag home almost everything. Call the Hoarders Show now.
I also hear all the time about how my customers would like to have a store like ours. What they don't know is that it is not as glamorous as they might think. But, I love what I do and know that I am blessed to get to dig through the barns and deserated places to find previously adored orphans.
It is like a treasure hunt everything single time we got out. Sometimes we find gold... sometimes just fools gold.
My hubby says that we should use before and after pics for our tags...that way our customers will know from which there orphan came...everyone loves the story. I am sometimes afraid that if my customers actually knew...they may not take anything home....lol.
Here are some pictures of our last Pickin' adventure.

It is usually a nice , long drive in the country with some great scenery.

And then you just get to it. Autumn seems to be a busy time for vintage lover's!! Not complaining. We have been working hard to bring some great goodies to the store. We started out with this cute little desk that needed some lovin.

After alot of sanding, we ended up leaving the top natural and just covered it with some poly. It turned out so cute and is ready for a new home.

Please forgive the terrible setting. This is in the workroom.

I love to see what customers do with the pieces that they choose from us. Recently a wonderfully talented photographer came by to see what we might have for props. He bought a Paris, chic hatbox. The farm is gorgeous, the weather was perfect and the shoppers were happy. This was the perfect show for us. We had alot of great folks that came out to support all of the vendors. There was live music and the most unbelievably, delish homemade pie. I think over the two day show I ate at least half of one myself.

Here are a few pics of our booth. We didn't really have alot of time to take pictures - we basically got cleaned out the first couple of hours and I sent my junk hunk back to the store to pick up more goodies!!

I am ashamed to say that we didn't really get alot of pictures of the other great booths.

At first I went with the French Country look - but by the end of show we went with whatever we could find to fill the space. I learned an important lesson about what sells at the shows and how much more I need to prepare.

Much of the time there were so many people in our booth that it was tricky to help folks...which was nice.

The entire farm was gorgeously - it that a word - decorated with fall color. It was a perfect weekend.
The Two Women are having a Christmas sale....I think I may just have to spend some time with them again.
They have a great little shop on the back of the farm with vintage goodies, handmade jewelry and lots of terrific gifts. Stop by on the weekend and check it out.

On with the Show!!! I have special things planned for my anniversary...but more about that later.
When you open a shop, there are many things to consider, size, traffic and mostly location, location, location.
I live in the neighborhood that our shop is located in. I love the neighborhood. A mix of older homes and neighborhood businesses. Nice lawns and gorgeous old buildings and homes. Growing up in the neighborhood, our shop was a square dance store for years and years. Gorgeous costumes and crinolines were everywhere.
The building that houses our little shop is on a corner, which is nice for parking and lots of room for me to be able to set goodies outside to entice customers to come inside and visit. Sometimes my girls (customers) will playfully curse me because I have put some sweet something outside that they just couldn't drive past. I also hear about how their car just swings around the corner when they try to drive by.
I also hear several times every single day..."I have driven past your store forever and today I decided to stop." Or " I drive by here all the time and I JUST saw your store." They are surprised when I tell them that I have been here for a year!! I hear how the inside of the store is so much nicer than they thought it would be. I always feel complimented when I hear that.
Last week I was across the street and looked back at our shop...It was more than sad. I guess what they say about love being blind is true. For one moment I saw the shop as others must see it. It is a cute little, non descript building with a god AWFUL paint job. The large area in the front where I thought I didn't really need a sign...well, I do. Nothing about the place says...please stop and visit.
I have over 35,000 cars drive by a day. I need to make the outside reflect all of the hard work that I do on the inside to make special things for my customers.
So being that I just renewed my lease for another year, I am changing things up.
Inside and out. I am adding additional sales space in the downstairs area....and well... you won't recognize the little building in just a few days.
Now, I am ashamed to say...this is what it looks like now....
BEFORE
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/TCRCEESoS5I/AAAAAAAAAK4/zR6e-MRzJ9E/s400/store%2520002%2520(2)%5B1%5D.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5486582883682896786" />

Please visit in a few days to see the AFTER.

Farm Chicks Sale!!

Everyone in junk land knows that the best show ever is taking place this weekend in Spokane. I was fortunate enough to have been invited to the legandary Farm Chicks Show. However, with everything going on with family and life in general - I was not able to participate in the festivities at the Fairgrounds. That isn't going to stop us having a great time though at Orphaned Decor. After you stop by and visit all the wonderful vendors at the fairgrounds, stop by and visit Orphaned Decor for more vintage, handmade and handpainted goodies. We have brought in some gorgeous new goodies and have Farm Chick inspired displays. The best things are that we have free close parking, free refreshments and if you mention this posting - you get 15% off your entire purchase. We are located just 5 minutes from the fairgrounds at 2030 N. Hamilton.

1. My mom has been diagnosed with a life threatening disease and we are ralling as a family to provide care and support. Please keep my parents in your prayers.

Now I will admit that I am a die hard, shabby chic, white loving gal....like alot of you out there. But, that beautiful black is starting to really grow one me. The more I see and do for my customers...the more I like it.
It is funny, some pieces just scream, " I want to be white!!" or "I must be black!!" Don't act like I am crazy ladies...you know you hear it too!! Lately, more pieces are aching to be ebony.
I was lucky enough to get some good pickin's from one of my Junk hunks demolition jobs. I brought home a great salvaged cabinet. It was first rescued from a school house and then from this old farm.
It is sturdy and dirty...just they way I like 'em. I cleaned him up and gave him a new coat of black beauty and....well, you be the judge.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S_Id_w3N_XI/AAAAAAAAAKQ/_HK1_ix_5XI/s400/another+black+cabinet.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5472469478494043506" />
This would be perfect in any room that needs extra storage. Who can't use extra storage??

I also love the French Apartment look. I know, I am always a little late when it comes to next big thing. I decided to try my hand at some of the great stenciling that I have drolled over on other blogs.
First up, this cute little pair of chairs. They had great lines and the gal that I got them from said she paid over $60.00 a yard for the ugly fabric that was on them...pssst....they saw her coming.
I think they turned out pretty cute.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S_Ifau_I1PI/AAAAAAAAAKg/8BYgRB6qiys/s400/closeup+of+paris.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5472471041358484722" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S_IfabgG19I/AAAAAAAAAKY/kOrdpObvcTc/s400/Paris+chair.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5472471036128057298" />

I even cut my own stencil... which I will doing alot more of. It is very easy.

Of course, after the success of the Paris chairs - I went stencil crazy...running around stenciling anything that didn't move. I know you that you have done this too....right? You have done this before...right?

This is a sturdy, old waterfall dresser that had seen better days. Now she is gorgeous and ready for a new French home.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S_IgHT1ZCPI/AAAAAAAAAKo/vzPso6sKjsU/s400/paris+waterfall+dresser.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5472471807163959538" />

And last but not least, I decided to jump on the number train. I love all of the numbered pieces of furniture and decor. I had again, a sturdy but dirty chair that needed rescuing. I painted it black and free-handed a loverly No. 5 on the back. Why 5? I like the way it looks...just that simple.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S_IhDDAxsLI/AAAAAAAAAKw/9Nx4XwETaXU/s400/5+chair.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5472472833440460978" />s

I really love that classy, sophisticated black look. Kind of all growed up. Maybe, black is the new black?

Finally back and Thankful.

It has been awhile since I have posted. It has been an interesting time. No matter how well we seem to plan, life continues to throw us the curve balls.
It is amazing how I take some things for granted...for instance, health. Not only the health of myself but the health of the people that surround me. I guess maybe, that is why life does it...to shake you up...to make you appreciate what you have and to continue to remind you to plan...and to slow down.
Recently, my parents have gotten old. I say recently, because it seemed to happen all of a sudden...at least that is the way that it seems. I am not sure exactly when or how it happened. Silly sounding, I know. It makes me wonder if I was just too wound up in my business and work to notice or if I was just in denial.
My dad has had health issues for a long time but always still seemed happy and strong. He is still happy but is frail and can't help with my mom's ever increasing needs. She has always cared for him and now can barely walk. They need 24 hour help. It has been an awaking of sorts. They are getting older and so I am....hmmm.
I have always been in good health. A couple of weeks ago, I started to feel under the weather. I thought that I had the flu that everyone else in the world seem to have. I ended up having to have emergency surgery. I have always been one of those people that just worked through it...but it didn't work this time...it made me feel a bit vulnerable and fragile.
I am fine now and my folks seem to be doing a bit better too...but it is eye opening and I will do my best not to take anything for granted.
One of the things that I will not take for granted is my family, the people that I care about.
Time marches on no matter what is happening. Winter becomes spring - things come and go - my business continues.
Despite all the things that have happened in my life, my shop is thriving!! That is a wonderful thing. I have gotten wonderful support from the amazing folks that stop by the shop and by friends and family that helped me through.
Thank you to all of you.
That being said....we have some been shopping and adding to the goodies in the store as fast as we can possibly can.
I am usually good about not taking things home from the shop but this is one of things that I am lusting after.
It has already been sold!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S8aMvbGFCiI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/VLIdNjWlqxg/s400/black+buffet+2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5460206344588298786" />

It is a gorgeous, antique buffet that my Junk Hunk refinished in a beautiful black. It is so elegant and solid walnut. I love the original hardware that he was able to reuse. I think it would look perfect in my dining room. I have a feeling however, that it won't last that long.

Here is another picture...I just love this.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S8aOHErtupI/AAAAAAAAAKA/QPYxUxOBn5E/s400/black+buffet+display.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5460207850400627346" />

I also have another new addition that I certainly will keep for my own.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S8aQd8OzznI/AAAAAAAAAKI/czHJnWCURCA/s400/26587_380042369351_561414351_3902969_6265206_n%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5460210442292153970" />

This is my new grandson. He was born Saturday. His name at this moment is "Baby". I am hoping that he will have a proper name before he starts pre-school.
And so life goes on. Please forgive my rambling and absence. Come by and visit if you are in the area. We have new goodies and gossip almost every day.

The Story of Sleeping Beauty

It as been warm here for the last two weeks. At least warm for here - in the 50's last week. This time last year we had record snow fall. My wishing for spring may be working.
Since it has been so nice, things have been incredibly busy at the shop. It has also given us a chance to do some painting.
Last week we found the sweetest, antique full size bed. It was in beautiful condition except for the finish. It is the kind with all of the romantic embellishments and the curved footboard. I love the look of these beds. They are so feminine.
The person that gave it up had had it for about 50 years and she bought it from an antique shop.
We tried to salvage the original finish but it just wasn't salavable...sooo.... out came the primer and the creamy cottage white paint. She now is ready for a new home.
This bed is beautiful. I would put it in my guest room if I could get it up the stairs. I have one of those great old homes that have the cute little rooms upstairs. Unfortunently, you have to scale a very curvy set of stair to get there.
Here are some pictures of this "Sleeping Beauty". I could stay in this bed all day.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S1yh3BYvwDI/AAAAAAAAAJg/RHnlOm4Lgnw/s400/whole+bed.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430393217339080754" />

This is a close up of the graceful headboard.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S1yiKCTDBpI/AAAAAAAAAJo/ZAL0f_GpOb4/s400/headboard.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430393544001128082" />

Lovin' that curvy footboard.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S1yifH1LPiI/AAAAAAAAAJw/K2SkG54cJMs/s400/footboard.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430393906263703074" />

I am working on finishing up on a curvy dresser shown in a previous post that will
match this bed perfectly. I love when a plan comes together.

I also am working on lots of girlie, pink goodies to go along with this Sleeping Beauty.

And the winner is!!!

It has been so, so busy at the store. It is a wonderful problem to have. We have been moving things and out so quickly. We have been shopping, painting, arranging and starting all over again.
My sweet chaise has found a new home...I am sad to see her go....but a sweet woman bought it for her sister as a surprise gift. She will undoubtedly be loved and cared for, for many years to come.
I have been working on some crafty goodies when I have time to add to the shop. I have always loved the crocheted rag rugs, so decided to try my hand at one.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S06zPJObphI/AAAAAAAAAIg/THdBOPUl_dc/s400/crocheted+rug.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5426471673783887378" />
I used some vintage fabrics and think it turned out pretty well. These are wonderful because they are completely machine washable and so soft but heavy duty.
I am working on some other's with the shabby chic colors. I am happy to take orders for these pretties as well. Cost is only $38.00 plus postage if you would like one for your home.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S06zQDVNn1I/AAAAAAAAAIo/FjqbREu5IB8/s400/closeup+of+the+rug.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5426471689381584722" />

Even though I love white and pink - I love the simplicity and sophistication of black. We have added some wonderful black pieces to the store.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S060Sp1TyTI/AAAAAAAAAIw/66P5X8c3nGA/s400/black+vanity.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5426472833588119858" />

This is the sweetest, little vintage vanity. It has the arms that you can add fabric to, to make a skirt. It also has shelves to display your fab high heels. We painted it Paris chic black and added a mirror to the top....and wouldn't you know...it sold before I could finish the display.
I also tried my hand at adding some vintage chic to some of my smaller orphans. I love the vintage sheet music look and thought I would try it out.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S062xXLdBMI/AAAAAAAAAI4/ZK8_uoi8ti0/s400/candles+holders.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5426475560179926210" />
I am not great at photography but tried to give you a close up look. I am also not as talented as many of the talented artists out there but thought they turned out pretty cute. I think they will easily find new homes.
My jun
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S062xwa_baI/AAAAAAAAAJA/d4a7iGjhY3M/s400/closeup+of+candles.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5426475566955982242" />

My junk hunk took on a bigger project. I love the look of this solid maple china hutch in chic black.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S064PT17-tI/AAAAAAAAAJI/TSSgkejqr-o/s400/After+of+the+hutch.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5426477174192077522" />
This pretty gal was a little sad looking and outdated, but she had great lines and the nicest plate rail....a little make up was all it took to bring out her natural beauty again.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S064x98GERI/AAAAAAAAAJQ/yumFFTuXyjs/s400/close+up+of+the+hutch.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5426477769607745810" />
A great place to display your ironware or some hot red dishes for Valentines decor.

Now for the announcement you have all been waiting for. So back to our giveaway!!
We got just skiff of snow today and then a whole lot of freezing rain. It was a bit like a skating rink everywhere. But that did not stop the pink ladies from coming out in droves. I love when a group of girls come in and shop together. They have such a good time and it just makes me happy to listen to them and meet them. By the time many of them leave I feel like we have been friends for years. I have been racing to try to keep up with things flying out of the store. It is a good problem to have but it is challenging.
Today, a gorgeous, antique vanity was adopted before I even had it put back together. A loving grandma snatched it up for her grandchild. She and my hubby had it loaded into her car before I could snap a picture of it. I also found homes for big, antique dresser with mirror, a vintage table and chairs, a pair of upolsterd chairs, a antique record cabinet and lots more...I have lots of space to play and lots to paint...yeeks!!
I love finding homes for older pieces. I love that other's can see the beauty and character of the previously adored.
I am starting to put out some of my Valentine goodies. I love to decorate for Valentine's Day...probably because I love pink.
I chose this little loverly to add to the giveaway trove.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S0l-iQ7etHI/AAAAAAAAAIY/M60gWCUWZKU/s400/valentine+ornament.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425006353269568626" />
I couldn't get a great picture of this pretty little heart. It is covered with lots of glitter and has the cutest little cherub on the other side...I could not get it to turn out at all. You will have to believe me when I tell you it is sooo adorable.
I am also going to include a hand poured candle made by the most wonderul candle maker named Valerie. She uses re-purposed containers and soy/palm oil for long, burning, delishious smelling candles. She does alot of different fragrances but including lots of whites and pinks especially for my shop. I love opening the door in the morning - it smells like heaven.

I have lots of new goodies coming in - furniture, jewerly and more candles and soaps perfect for your Valentines sweety.

Tune it tomorrow for more peaks.

It's a balmy 20 degrees - But it's time for Show and Tell.

Today I am joining in with My Romantic Home for Friday Show and Tell. I absolutely love her blog and the gorgeous blue hues of her home make me swoon.
I tune everyday to what new beautiful things she is going to share...I want to "play house" in her house.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S0arsGQjlsI/AAAAAAAAAHw/a_hFLAEG8cg/s400/show_and_tell_fridays.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424211575296988866" />

Today I want to share a new collection that I decided to start...well, I am not sure that I can call it a collection yet. You see I found the prettiest, vintage cake topper at a yard sale this summer. The woman that was selling said it was her mom's. Her mom was married in 1960. I am not sure why she was selling it...it seems like something that you would want to save. I could not pass it up. It is like new and so beautiful and pink.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S0as9F1GRdI/AAAAAAAAAH4/3YdC5bCyhRc/s400/cake+topper.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424212966751225298" />

I bought it and brought it home. I have been on the lookout for more...so far I have only found a couple of ring bearer pillows but I will keep looking. I love the hunt.

The next thing I have to show is something I actually found. I got this piece for just the hauling. It is not as pretty as it could be but I think it has potential.
Hopefully, I will be able to use it for show and tell next week...looking pretty.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S0atukvA4ZI/AAAAAAAAAIA/qBzO2MaIn24/s400/before+of+the+dresser.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424213816860795282" />
I think I am going to use this in my dining room after it is done.
Head on over to My Romantic Home for other great Show and Tell goodies.

If you would like to enter my giveaway - please feel free to leave a comment on the posting a couple of days ago.
Thanks for stopping by.

Leslie

Snow will not stop our quest for spring.

There is snow in the forecast but I do not care....I think I may be in denial. If you ask my friends they will probably tell you that they have known that for a long time.
Despite the cold and the possible inclement weather it was a busy day at the shop. Lot's of goodies went out the door into new homes today. It is a good problem to have but it is a challenge to keep things fresh and looking great in the shop. I found a couple of forgotten orphans this afternoon in my wanderings that I will be working on to help fill the space. Hopefully, I will have pictures of them for you tomorrow.
I love getting new things for the shop...it is almost like Christmas for me. One of the few vendors that have goodies in the shop brought me some new gifts.
I have the sweetest little gal, Tara, that hand makes delicious smelling soaps, bath salts and lotions. Not only do they smell great but they are goat milk based so they make my dry, old skin feel great. If you are in the area come by and smell for yourself...my favorite is Snicker doodle Cream...I think I may be her best customer...no denying that.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S0VzXofxDYI/AAAAAAAAAHg/fqkYJSYvJCM/s400/soaps.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423868176082472322" />

You probably guessed it ladies...the winner of my giveaway will get one of these yummy soaps. These are great little gifts for yourself or someone special. I love the colors as well as the fragrances.

I also had another wonderful surprise. A wonderful woman named Celeste, who owns a great restaurant named "Chaps" came into the shop. If you are ever in the area you have to check out her place. It is completely decorated in vintage and antique decor. The Farm Chicks did their book signing there.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S0V90oK2AjI/AAAAAAAAAHo/rj8dx-j594k/s400/chaps%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423879669327200818" />
Celeste also does a wonderful show, which she said I would be perfect for...yay!! She has about 100 vintage and antiques vendors from all over come for her terrific gathering. That really makes me ache for spring. Celeste said that her good friend told her that I "had the good junk", and she had to check us out. Now in normal circles that might not sound like a compliment but in my opinion "good junk" is as good as it gets. Celeste took home some goodies including a gorgeous, vintage madonna, along with lots of my business cards to pass along at her place.
It is good to be Queen!

Have a wonderful evening ladies and stay tuned.

Come on Spring!! I hate being cold!!

Yesterday I was just a bit of a funk, wanting to see some sun and hoping for a really early spring. Today, I woke up not feeling great and no heat at the shop. I have lived in Spokane all my life but with heat. I had to leave my sick bed to help my junk hunk work on the furnace. We had to completely tear apart the furnace making a huge mess and then close down to run around to find the part. I was feeling horrible as time wore on. To make matters worse,while we were gone, I got a phone call that one of the famous Funky Junk Sisters was at the store. She and her hubby had stopped by to check out the shop. Ahhhh.....timing is everything they say. Unfortunently, she couldn't wait until we could get back to the shop. I hope that she will return soon.
In the mean time, the heat is back on and the shop is cozy and warm. It is also looking better and better.

I actually was able to complete a couple of projects while we were waiting for the repairman come and diagnose the problem.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S0QLYu5P2RI/AAAAAAAAAHI/fZdNKG5tqvs/s400/lamp.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423472370793830674" />

This is a gorgeous, vintage floor lamp. It has a large globe and three smaller bulbs that can be adjusted for just the right amount of light. It works great. The fabric on the original shade was pretty sad looking - so I covered it with some vintage backcloth. I love the way it turned out. I may still add some gimp.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S0QMha-Sr3I/AAAAAAAAAHQ/UbqI7WFhfjI/s400/closeup+of+lamp+shade..jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423473619576729458" />

I also completed some great lavender filled sachets out of some vintage fabrics. The lucky winner of this giveaway will get three of these yummy smelling loverlies to use in your own home or gift...they will be yours - so you can do as you like.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S0QNV49AlfI/AAAAAAAAAHY/zNTU-Atf5z8/s400/lavender+sachets.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423474520977610226" />
I added some fabric flowers to remind us that spring is on the way.

Now I am off to a nice warm bath. First Giveaway!!!

So maybe it is a bit premature to start thinking spring, especially in this part of the Pacific Northwest, but the heck with it. I am so over the whole winter thing. The last two years we have had record snow fall and this year it has been cold and rainy. It is depressing and well, blah. So I am proactively, and definitely thinking spring!!!
When I think spring - I think pastels - well, I always think pastels, especially pink - but I digress.
I spent the entire day on Saturday moving out all of the Christmas left overs (except the pink tree - which is going to now be a Valentines tree) and fluffing up my shop. I think that some of my "Pink Ladies", "Cottage Chicks" felt the same way because they were out in force this Saturday.
It actually all started with a Vintage Pink Chase. I brought her home from an antique auction. She was one of the more sought after orphans but I knew she had to come home with me. Looking at her makes me think of warmer, pinker times.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S0KvYapEwuI/AAAAAAAAAFg/6RVV8gbIx7I/s320/Pink+chase.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423089735310820066" />

She just makes me happy. She is actually very comfy and I spent more time than I probably should have lounging....err, testing her out.
Since I don't have room for her at mine - I will enjoy her until she finds a new home. $165.00 adoption fee and she is yours.

I also found the prettiest, trio of lamps - the big sister and the smaller, pair of twins. Pink, just does it for me.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S0KxALVJqtI/AAAAAAAAAGA/XlS0iwY8uHM/s400/shop+two+008.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423091517907118802" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S0Kw_1FtLlI/AAAAAAAAAF4/RkPG4guH_T0/s400/shop+two+007.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423091511936757330" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S0Kw_S2NsRI/AAAAAAAAAFw/OyVS7iATsH8/s400/shop+two+006.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423091502744973586" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S0Kx5BOylxI/AAAAAAAAAGI/a51N9JrgwRg/s400/shop+two+005.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423092494448629522" />

It reminds me of a song - "I'm a little bit deco - I'm a little bit shabby chic." I think that is how it goes.

These lamps are C.Miller, 1956 and in perfect condition. I am not great at photography..I can tell you that they are so much yummier in person. I am happy to ship them if you just gotta bring them home. Adoption fee for Large, Square shade is $95.00. The twins are $85.00. I also have another set of twins without shades and a minor flea bite for $50.00.
You can see them tucked away in the next photo of the newly fluffed corner...unfortunately those pink loving gals adopted allot of orphans from this display before I could snap a photo.
Everything in this display is available for adoption - please just email me for adoption fees and relocation if necessary.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/S0KzeQ9bTyI/AAAAAAAAAGQ/DjGFFrc7AZ4/s400/pink+corner.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423094233837555490" />

Now for the really fun part for both of us. I am trying to build up my bloggy base of friends - so I am hosting a giveaway. I will be adding to the goodies every day - announcing a winner on Jan. 10Th!!! The entire package will end up with a value of about $150.00 clams, buckaroos, samolies...well, you get it.

How to enter!!
1. If you are already a follower - you get one entry.
2. Become a follower - you get an entry.
3. Leave me a comment on this blog - you get an entry.
4. I have been a bad, bad blogger. It has been so busy getting the store up and running. I really had no idea how much time it takes to keep things tidy and full of great goodies. It is a full time job just shopping and hunting for orphans to bring into the shop to offer to new homes. Now I am not complaining - simply trying to make an excuse that you would believe.
I found the very best auction last weekend - and the shop is full of great vintage, antique and unique goodies that would make great additions to your holiday home.They would also make great gifts for your antique loving sweeties.
The auction was at an old shop. The owner, a kind-hearted minister, had decided to make his shop space into an outreach center for homeless and needy folks. A great idea and a great cause. We were happy to find new homes for all his great goodies. We brought 5 huge truck loads to the shop and still have two more to go.
He had a little bit of everything - antiques, primitives and just different decor.I could not resist some of the gorgeous, old goodies because they were well, gorgeous and great prices.
I brought home a pretty little couch. Now she has seen better days but she still has so much to offer. You could recover or do a Magnolia Pearl treatment but I love her the way she is.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/Swy2WlhzVTI/AAAAAAAAAEA/irrKokL2MHg/s320/old+couch.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5407897751712388402" />
ADOPTED - SOLD!!

He also had some yummy primitives. I can not pass up anything that is chippy or distressed - especially if they are farmhouse perfect. This auction had alot of goodies just like that. I brought home not one or two or even three but four such orphans. They are perfectly primitive pieces just waiting for that country or farmhouse enthuisist to come and take them home.
This little lady is ready to help with all your holiday baking.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/Swy5e6wC5XI/AAAAAAAAAEI/dAcgVYjpmPc/s320/close+up+of+kitchen+cabinet.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5407901193383110002" />
ADOPTED - SOLD!!

These fella's are a bit older orphans but are anxiously waiting to store your favorite belongings in vintage style.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/Swy6WRd-edI/AAAAAAAAAEQ/GFQ0mfuJv9I/s320/curby+front+dresser.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5407902144374143442" />
I love how some of the finish has been removed while some of the soft green remains on this sturdy beauty.
ADOPTED - SOLD!!!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/Swy6heOOmiI/AAAAAAAAAEY/lh-FzUHYf3k/s320/green+primitive+dresser.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5407902336776313378" />

If rustic is really what your are looking for - well, this gentleman is the ticket. He is stripped and is ready for a finish of your choosing....I was going to say that he was naked but this is a family blog.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/Swy7Wze9QKI/AAAAAAAAAEg/jDR1kRsrTec/s320/very+primitive+dresser.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5407903253016690850" />

He also had this feminine beauty. It was nice and we had a great time visiting and getting to chat with some folks that we have not seen for awhile.
He was also kind enough to schedule it the day before the Oregon City Antique Street Fair.
My hubby and I headed over early and were greeted by about 50 vendors with gorgeous wares...Shame on me...I did not take any pics. I was a bit star struck!! I got to meet Isabelle from Mason Douce - she is an absolute doll. I got a big hug from her and she spent time asking about my shop and encouraged me to participate in "Farm Chics"....I want her to be my friend...lol.
I also met one of the Barn House Boys. I am not going to say which because I believe he thought I was crazy - I grabbed him by the arm and shouted "I read your Blog!!", as he was strolling by. I think I startled him. He just kind of looked at me and then was very gracious...also very handsome.
Last by not least I got to meet Joy from A day in the life. She is a hoot...she called my hubby vintage...don't tell him. What a great sense of humor and a beautiful booth. I am not sure why I didn't buy any of her feed sacks at just two dollars each..darn it...what was I thinking.
Anyway, we had a great time. I brought home some pretty goodies and toted home a deco buffet in the trunk of my car. My hubby gave me the usual (I can't believe you) "Sweety", when I announced that I was bringing it home.
It was blond and a little chippy but I loved its lines and especially loved it's unusual feet. I knew she had to come with me.
After getting her home I did a quick sanding and applied a couple coats of satin black. She also got some new brushed nickel knobs and a light distressing - which really brings out those fab lines.
I don't have any before pics but here are a few after pics.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/SqBZ2OLdiFI/AAAAAAAAADo/fnAIx6n_3sM/s320/front+of+buffet.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377396743134349394" />
These really do not do this piece justice.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/SqBaCvT2QBI/AAAAAAAAADw/bCAf2eer0w4/s320/feet+of+buffet.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377396958186323986" />
Her legs are great!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/SqBaQ0gkE8I/AAAAAAAAAD4/LRx4fLxis7s/s320/closeup+of+the+buffet.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377397200100004802" />
A close up of the new hardware and distressing.
This piece is still available at the moment but I don't think she will last long. She can be yours for only $165.00
Today was an eventful day! I got a visitor from one of the local colleges and he said that he reads my blog!!! I was so flattered. What good taste he has...lol.I told him that I was glad that someone did and that I was just going to update it...I really was!
I also got in a shipment of hand poured, hand crafted candles from Valerie. She makes the most delicious smelling natural palm and soy candles. They burn forever and do not smoke or give off any soot. She uses re purposed containers and they are just beautiful.. Stop by and smell for yourself.
Well, I am off to do some more painting and re-arranging. I have some great items coming in for fall.
I hope you stop by and say hello soon. Mention my blog for 10% any purchase. Have a great day!!

Fall Classes Enrolling now!!

That's right! I opened on Tuesday and by Thursday I was running low on goodies. It was really amazing at the response that I am getting. It is a good problem to have but I can see that I am really going to have to step up both my junk shopping ( don't worry about me - I will manage) and my rehabbing.

I first found this homely, little, vintage, metal twin bed....that's alot of adjustives. I actually drove away and then came back and got it. I spent $5.00 - but it was sturdy and I figured I could do "something" with him....yes it is a him.

I washed him off and gave him a coat of Country blue and then decided because he was so sturdy that he needed to belong to a little boy....so cowboys it was.

I added some gold hoof prints to the footboard and some gold touchs to the stars on the headboard.
The pillows are made from placemats that I got for a song from a great garage sale. I love the idea of getting share my "adoptions" and deals!! I also love to look at the other great treasures that my junking sisters find.

It was hot here in Spokane this weekend...almost 100. Alot of the yard sale folk were throwing in the towel early. Despite the heat I did get to a couple of sales and found a few loverly orphans.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/SmSp0Y3jJtI/AAAAAAAAABc/Qocb638Cif0/s320/Shandy+inside.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5360596173971465938" />

I actually found two of these dirty faced, little Tole Chandeliers hiding in a box under the table. I got both for a song. They cleaned up nicely and work perfectly.
I have them already hanging in my shop...I may have to keep one. They look rather small in the pictures but they are actually on the larger side.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 184px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/SmSqiYwVwDI/AAAAAAAAABk/Ffp5YesXx6Y/s320/patio+stuff.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5360596964215210034" />

I also found a these lost items waiting to be taken home. I love the little metal tables with the cute little roses...maybe not vintage but non the less a bargain.
The mirror was an ugly brown but cleaned right up with some pink spray paint and a light sanding. The pedestal was already pink and the geisha...I just liked her.

This coming weekend is supposed to be cooler..so hopefully there will be more treasures to be found.

Be sure to drop by Southern Hospitality and check out the other party goers!!

What was I thinking???

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/SmN-ZmvGHTI/AAAAAAAAAAs/khxMkzSSi9U/s320/Shandy+inside.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5360266959860931890" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 217px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0NjUDYM6xKw/SmN9wfsQO2I/AAAAAAAAAAc/h0QJJsQNlTM/s320/Makeup+mirror+2.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5360266253595327330" />

Hello. I know that seems a bit blah for a first introduction but it seems...natural. This is my first blog. I have read them for years. Devouring every yummy detail of others delicious decorating talent. I, like many of you, have the bug. The junking bug. I was shabby before it was chic. I love vintage goodies, pink makes me swoon and lets just say anything sparkly.....ahhhh....I have almost drove up the curb looking at my engagement ring in the sun. I also have a thing for "Orphaned things"....Ugly painted furniture, broken lamps, some stuff that my hubby calls "garbage" and just some nice stuff that I find at yard sales. Last weekend, I not only got some great stuff but I also got two parakeets and three gold fish for FREE!!! These things don't really seem to be..."What was I thinking", kind of moments...at least not to me. Others close to me may have other opinions....they can write their own blog.

Now for the "What was I thinking" idea.

Because of this bug, I recently decided to take all of my vintage loverlies and orphaned decor and lease a shop - yup. I also quit my full-time job - yup. Now you are probably saying to yourselves "What was she thinking?" I know, I know. This is not the time with the economy, times are rough. Shabby Chic is not in anymore ( someone told me that), big companies are closing...I know, I know...but it was the right time for me. I didn't like my job anymore. I was making ALOT of money for my company but didn't feel like I was getting a whole lot in return. I love to paint and recreate but I didn't have the energy or time....so, I quit. "What was I thinking?"

Anyway, what's done is done. I am now a shop owner. I thought starting a blog might be cathartic...and it seems to be. I thought I could get some great advice and support. I would love to show you some of the pretties that I find and hopefully get to meet some terrific people in the meantime.

I have some great antiques, lots of vintage goodies, hand-painted furniture, chic beauties that are not too shabby and lots more.

I hope you stop by often. I promise not to be so meladramatic. I have added a couple of pictures of the shop so far. It is far from ready to go.
